CASA is consulting on a draft advisory circular, **AC 91-27 – Instrument flight procedures (operational information)**. The goal is a single, clear guidance document for accepted industry procedures as IFR procedures have become more complex

### Why it matters

The draft AC aims to:

- Provide information on the use of instrument flight procedures in Australia
- Explain the reasons for and background to industry practices for instrument flight
- Clarify safety precautions to be used with instrument flight procedures

Operational guidance and clarity across:

- Background to IFR flight
- Airspace and ground infrastructure requirements
- Instrument approach procedures
- Non-precision approaches (NPAs)
- Approach procedures with vertical guidance (APVs)
- Precision approach procedures (PAs)
- Procedure entry, holding, and noise abatement procedures
- Precision runway monitor (PRM) instrument approach procedures
- Helicopter procedures
